With the construction site officially open to volunteers, the first group of 17 Bank of America staff volunteers arrived at a Habitat for Humanity subdivision in Clearwater early Wednesday morning, October 10th, to help build a Habitat home funded in part by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

Earlier this summer, Bill Goede, Bank of America Tampa Bay market president, presented a $35,000 donation to Barbara Inman, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County. Habitat Pinellas has allocated the contribution to help fund the home being built for Tracy Jackson and her two children in the non-profit’s Stevens Creek subdivision in Clearwater.
“In response to the many challenges facing our communities, we are focusing our philanthropic support on areas vital to advancing local economies,” said Goede. “Empowering housing advocates at the local level such as Habitat for Humanity is a critical component of the economic recovery process. Having partnered with the Pinellas County Habitat team in the past, we know firsthand how effective their programs are at making homeownership a reality for qualifying families.”
MORE VOLUNTEER DAYS SCHEDULED
Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County has hosted several volunteer days in recent years involving Bank of America, which encourages employee community service. Currently, Bank of America has two additional staff volunteer days scheduled for Saturday, October 27th, and Wednesday, November 14th.
The Jackson family home is scheduled for completion in December.
