Nearly 80 County Volunteers Celebrate MLK Day Working on Habitat Pinellas Houses

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

TBNWeekly.com article

With public offices closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, nearly 80 County employees spent the day volunteering at three Habitat Pinellas houses as part of the Pinellas County Employee Service Day.

The high turnout of Pinellas County workers included staff, administration and elected officials -- an embodiment of the spirit of public service these County employees embrace every day. The Employee Service Day gives them a chance to see firsthand the results of their community development efforts as they work on-site in programs like Habitat for Humanity.

The three homes located on 23rd Avenue for the Clark, Eborda and Geneus families were sponsored "in memory of George Arnold and June Marie Gerlach." Including these homes, California resident Kathryn Fenton has sponsored a total of six Habitat Pinellas homes in memory of her parents.

The triple dedication of the Clark, Eborda and Geneus family homes will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 10:00 a.m.  All volunteers and the general public are welcome to attend.
