Two Habitat Pinellas Homes Dedicated for the Exum and Hooton Families!

Threatening storm clouds could not dampen the enthusiasm among the friends, family and Habitat supporters who gathered to celebrate with the Exum and Hooton families during Saturday's early morning double dedication. And timing proved to be everything as the skies opened up just as the two families officially opened up the front doors of their new homes!

One of the highlights of the double dedication was a special performance by the Anona "Hands of Praise" group. The energetic group of nine women from Anona United Methodist Church danced and signed their way through the song, "The Roof," to the delight of everyone present.  Following the performance, Anona Pastor Richard Landon delivered an inspirational blessing as everyone joined hands across the two properties and touched the homes.

Several Habitat homeowners were also in attendance cheering on their fellow new homeowners, including the Aktel family who actively assisted in the dedications. Special thanks to Selim Aktel for helping to set up and run the sound system and to his adorable daughters who presented welcome mats to the families. Thanks also to homeowner and CHDO board member Marie Piard, who presented both homeowners with their keys. 

Many thanks to all of our volunteers who have helped build these two homes for the Exum and Hooton families. It is your dedication that is the heartbeat of Habitat!
